CrossFit has offered support to many causes over the years - breast cancer, prostate cancer, children's cancers, The Wounded Warrior Project, the Autism Tree Project Foundation... just to name a few. Now CrossFit is asking boxes to united behind another cause: Crush Big Soda.
If we require warning labels on toxic or dangerous products like tobacco, why don’t we hold sugar-loaded beverages to the same standard?
As consumption of sugary drinks has doubled in the United States over the past three decades, diabetes rates have tripled, especially in our most vulnerable communities. While big soda profits, California’s health care costs rise, draining the state’s economy.
California’s Sugar-Sweetened Beverages Safety Warning Act (SB 203) will mandate safety warnings on all sugary drink bottles, cans, vending machines, and dispensaries that will read:
STATE OF CALIFORNIA SAFETY WARNING: Drinking beverages with added sugar(s) contributes to obesity, diabetes, and tooth decay.
Health warning labels empower consumers to make informed choices about what they purchase. Big soda doesn’t want the word to get out in California. But we deserve the right to know: soda is killing us.
Tell Sacramento to get smart on commonsense soda labeling.
