We have a tradition of running a friendly gym competition of the classic workout "Fight Gone Bad" here at UB, each time raising money for a good cause. As announced last month, UB will be hosting United for Youth for the second time on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017.
Besides being a really fun day in the gym, this is great prep for the CrossFit Open that will be starting just weeks later. Participation in the event is free for UB members, with an optional donation requested to support the United for Youth fundraiser.
Here's how you can help:
Spread the word! Use the hashtag #unitedforyouth in any social media posts about the fundraiser or event.
In 2014, UB and other local San Francisco gyms raised $12,000 in support of Westside Athletes Association. In 2017 the goal of United for Youth is very specific. WAA has been working with the SF Unified School District to bring a 2-day certified training course to San Francisco. This training will allow SFUSD P.E. teachers to implement functional fitness programs in their schools. By raising $10,000, 20 teachers can attend this training.
