The Weekly Dose of Awesome

There are an overwhelming amount of reasons why Kim is this weeks dose of awesome, far too many to include all of them in this post but to name a few: She is an amazing person and friend, eager to learn, always there to listen, has an amazing collection of t shirts including one that says "Cookie Monster is my spirit animal." I truly mean it when I say I believe the United Barbell community is even better because this lady is apart of it. Thank you Kim for being you!

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? I was going through a particularly rough patch when I was finishing my first year of Hematology/Oncology fellowship. I was working 60-80 hours a week, taking care of people who were sick and dying, and lost a close friend to cancer only 10 months after her diagnosis...I felt like I was losing so many things I cared about including my own physical and emotional health. Athletics had always been and integral part of my life, but I somehow lost sight of that in my medical training....and by this time I started hearing about Crossfit from random friends and decided to give it a try. The rest is history.....
What is an unexpected way CrossFit affected your life? Hmmm...guess I'll give a couple.....first off Crossfit has given me my mental health back and everyday I'm able to walk into the gym and workout I'm truly grateful, because the reality is most of the people I care for aren't afforded that ability. Secondly, I'm grateful for the family Crossfit has given me no matter where I have lived or traveled. United Barbell in particular has felt like one ridiculously fit family for me and I love the community.
What's your secret talent? I'm kind of a nerd and pick up one new hobby a year....I have a 2nd degree black belt in Tang Soo Do
