The Weekly Dose of Awesome

This weeks dose of awesome goes to Alfredo! I have the pleasure of having Alfredo in my Level 2 classes. Alfredo brings an energy to each and every class that is extremely contagious. He's always having fun and never afraid to crack a joke to keep a smile on everyone's face. Alfredo is a great teammate not only because he is always cheering other people on but because he continues to look for ways to get better each and every class, and isn't afraid to break out in dance mid-WOD : ). Thank you Alfredo for being such a special part of the UB community!

Name: Alfredo Ramirez

Nickname / Alter Ego: Tiburon (it means "shark" and it derives from a merengue song). Alternatively, Alfre, Alfredito or Fredo. However, if you feel playful you can call me "Papi".... hahaha

Hometown: Caracas, Venezuela

Occupation: Accounting Consultant

When did you first start CrossFitting?: I started in London, UK in May 2012.

When did you first start CrossFitting at UB?: Around May 2014.

Favorite WOD: Usually MetCons that involve cleans and 600m runs, or long chippers

Least favorite WOD: Anything that has too many wallballs in it.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? I was watching this Reebok commercial on TV and they were doing a WOD (at the time I didn't even know what a WOD was). It looked tough and exhausting. So, I did a bit of research and came across this thing call Crossfit. I then decided to check out the local boxes in London and after I saw some WODs I joined, and after that I was hooked. Great part was due to the intensity of the WODs, but a lot was also due to the great environment at my former gym - very intense but super fun and unreserved.

What is an unexpected way CrossFit has affected your life? Less focused on maintaining the beach body - More focused on getting stronger and having fun while at it.

What is your biggest phobia? Crocodiles

What is your favorite cheat meal? Anything from the local patisserie
