When I first met Prerana nearly a year ago, she shared with me that her only experience with fitness was a little running and that her mom made her do sit-ups as punishment when she was a child (creative points for mom on this one). We began working together for 2 personal sessions per week, then slowly incorporating elements classes. Long before she was a regular in class, Prerana was already making friends within the UB community, rallying a group of fans, cheerleaders and supporters. Whenever she was faced with a new challenge or elusive movement, her attitude was always one of determination and willingness. It would have been so easy to give into the "I can't," to give up and decide this wasn't for her, but not this lady. Instead, she kept showing up, putting in work, asking questions and making gains. In our working together, Prerana has inspired and humbled me, and ultimately has challenged me to be a better coach. I could not be more proud of her progress.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Husband Sid had been doing CrossFit for 2+ years. I told him he must be mad to do those classes. After years of him talking about CF, I finally tried it for myself.
What is an unexpected way CrossFit has affected your life? I feel really good and energetic and more fit. Also, weight gain in my lower body was unexpected (all the squatting). This is literally the first form of "real exercise" I've ever done in my life (aside from hiking, running, treadmill and sit-ups). I can do a lot of things which I never thought I could

What is your favorite cheat meal? I workout to eat. Chocolate, ice cream...I have a sweet tooth!
