5 years ago today, I stepped into a gym to workout for the first time in over 20 years.

It was rough.

I was in the worst shape of my life, physically and emotionally. I couldn't carry my girls up the stairs to bed without my heart beating fast and losing my breath.  I was denied the amount of life insurance I needed because my labs were so bad.

I needed change.

It sucked changing my sedentary lifestyle and diet at 42, but I did it. I kept at it. I got stronger physically and emotionally. I made new friends and even met my wife (at the gym!) a few years in.

I healed.

Today, I can confidently say I'm in the best health and shape I've ever been in my life!

The picture on the left is from a few months after I started #crossfit and had ALREADY lost about 30 lbs.  The right?  #crossfitopen2018 18.3 ripping out double unders and about 70 net lbs lighter with much more muscle and a much better physique.

Thanks to everybody in the last five years who have helped and supported me in my journey along the way, including my family, friends, coaches and all the boxes who have let me drop in during my travels! I could not have done it without all of you!

Special thanks to @thehermescrossfit and @foundationcrossfit,  @crossfitdeliverance and @unitedbarbell / CrossFit SOMA, my gym homes away from home.
